What Job Do I Want?

Have you heard of the aphorism, "Procrastination is the thief of time'?

你聽說過“拖延是盜竊時間的盜賊”這句格言嗎？

I think it applies to me.

我想這句話對我來說是非常適用。

I need to thinking about a job for which I have apposite skills.

我得開始考慮我能勝任的適當工作了。

I think it would appease my parents if I do so this summer.

我想如果我今年夏天就開始考慮，父母一定會倍感寬慰。

Otherwise, I'll have to make an applogy to them for brrowing money again.

否則，我就得為再次向他們借錢而道歉。

Should I be a chef?

我該做個廚師嗎？

It would be fun to appease the appetite of hungry people.

滿足饑餓者的胃口會很有趣。

But I don't even know how to operate the simply appliances in my kitchen!

但我連自家廚房裏最簡單的用具都不會使！

Maybe I can appraise property for a real estate company.

也許我可以為一家房地產公司做資產評估。

How hard can it be to make an appraisal?

做評估有什麼難的？

But I'd have to be good at observing the appreciable differences between various properties.

不過，我得有本事觀察出不同財產間的明顯差別。

Perhaps I should be a criminal lawyer.

也許我該做個刑事律師。

I could use my big sad eyes to appeal to the judge for mercy.

我可以用我那雙憂鬱的大眼睛來懇求法官的寬恕。

However, I don't think my parents would appreciate my choice.

但父母不會理解我的選擇。

Defending murderers and thieves would appall them.

為殺人犯和小偷辯護會使他們嚇得魂不附體。

What about being a policeman!

當個警察怎麼樣？

I could apprehend crinimals and put them in prison.

我可以逮捕小偷，把他們關進監獄。

I can imagine the warm feeling of appreciation I would get for saving someone's life.

我能想像到在挽救某人性命後備受感激的溫暖感覺。

On second thought, I don't think I can be an applicant for a position that involves guns.

考慮再三，我想我還是別申請要使槍的工作為好。

I could be a politician.

我可以做個政治家。

I'd have the power to appoint people to positions of importance.

But then I'd have to make really difficult decisions like how to apportion our limited water supply.

What I'd really to be is an NBA basketball player like Michael Jordan.

He's the apotheosis of athletes.

Everyone applaunds his amazing skills. But I should be more realistic, shouldn't I?

每個人都為他驚人的球技歡呼。不過我應該現實些，對吧？

I think I better start with a simpler job.

我想我還是先幹點容易的活算了。

This summer, I'll submit an application to McDonald!

今年夏天，我會像麥當勞遞一份求職申請!
